95 Palestinians to be released on Sunday

The wartime cabinet led by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has approved a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The Prime Minister's Office confirmed this information in a statement early Saturday (January 18).

The statement said that the Israeli government has approved a hostage return plan. The plan will take effect tomorrow, Sunday.

On the other hand, the Israeli Ministry of Justice said in a separate statement that 95 Palestinians imprisoned in various prisons in the country will be released on Sunday, the first day of the ceasefire. 3 Israeli hostages will be released in exchange.

Among those awaiting release, 69 are women, 16 are men and 10 are minors. The Ministry of Justice also released the names of the 95. The youngest prisoner to be released in this round is 16 years old.

Only 7 of the 95 were arrested before October 7, 2023. The rest were detained after the start of the invasion.

Incidentally, at a press conference in the capital of Qatar, Doha, on Wednesday, the country's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said that Hamas, the political group that controls the Gaza Strip, and Israel's wartime cabinet had reached a consensus on a long-term ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
