Landslides kill 10 in Brazil

A landslide following heavy rains in Brazil has killed 10 people. The incident occurred in the city of Ipatinga in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais on Sunday (January 12), local time. The British media outlet BBC News reported this information.


The report said that 80 millimeters (3.1 inches) of rain fell in an hour on Saturday night in the city of Ipatinga in the state. As a result, nine people were killed in the landslide, the city's mayor's office said.



Firefighters recovered the body of an eight-year-old child from the rubble of a house destroyed by the landslide. Another landslide in the city's Bethany neighborhood destroyed everything along a road.
